Flood, Flowers and Feathers Festival

Flood, Flowers and Feathers Festival will be held at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge, Saturday May 19th 8:00 – 3:00. The Friend of the Little Pend Oreille NWR will be participating with a booth. Trail Building–Beaver Pond Loop Trail

Join the Washington Trails Association as we build a new trail on the Refuge. Spend a weekend spent in Northeastern Washington, in the heart of the Little Pend Oreille Wildlife Refuge. The Friends of Little Pend Oreille have been working hard to preserve and promote this unique and beautiful area. WTA has been asked to assist these efforts by developing a new loop trail will provide even better access for the many visitors who come to view wildlife or recreate in the area. This is a weekend work party so you can join us for either one or both days! A camping area will be available for those who want to stay overnight and we will have a BBQ on Saturday evening for everyone. Tools and hardhats provided.

Early Summer Hike

Join us for a Refuge Hike led by Dan Price and the Friends, Saturday June 16th at 9:30 am. We will meet at the Refuge Headquarters. Location of hike to be determined but it will be in the range of 3-5 miles. Bring weather appropriate clothing, a lunch, water and mosquito repellent.

Butterfly Education Day

You are cordially invited to join refuge staff and a butterfly expert for a fun filled day searching for an often forgotten group of small wildlife. As part of National Pollinator Week the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge will be hosting the North American Butterfly Association’s 38th annual Fourth of July Butterfly Count. We will meet at the refuge headquarters at 8:30 AM on Saturday June 23. We will be spending the day in the field so please bring a lunch, water, sun screen, binoculars if available, and sturdy shoes for trail hiking. There is a $3.00 participant fee to help offset the program and printing costs of the NA Butterfly association.
