Enjoy fall colors at the Refuge! Meet at the Refuge Headquarters at 9:00 am on October 1st for the fall hike led by Dan Price. The hike will be on the Schumaker Meadow and Prospect Creek; about 6 miles round trip, and easy to moderately difficult. Schumaker Meadow is one of the prettiest spots on the refuge. A local favorite event! Mycologist Jim Groth and wife, JoAnne will lead an educational mushroom foray on the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday April 29th. This is a good way to learn more about your refuge. Emphasis will be on collecting morels for the table, but stress will also be put on identification and ecology of all fleshy fungi encountered. You are invited to hike with our local refuge expert, Dan Price on Saturday, May 27th. We will meet at 5 :30 pm at the McDowell Lake trailhead. This is also known as the River Camp, right on the Little Pend Oreille River. The hike will take us up through Sampson orchard and then down to Christianson meadow and Bear Creek Rd, where we will shuttle back to the trailhead.
