Milkweed Planting

Annual Butterfly Count

This is the Fifth Annual Butterfly Count on the Refuge. On July 9th, we will meet at the Refuge Headquarters at 8:30 am. We will divide into groups and start counting by 9:00. Blue Goose Chase–Family Bike Ride

Bring your bicycles, friends and family to the Little Pend Oreille NWR for a 10.5 mile bike ride featuring the refuge auto tour route. Fall Hike

Enjoy fall colors at the Refuge! Meet at the Refuge Headquarters at 9:00 am on October 1st for the fall hike led by Dan Price. The hike will be on the Schumaker Meadow and Prospect Creek; about 6 miles round trip, and easy to moderately difficult. Schumaker Meadow is one of the prettiest spots on the refuge. Moved up a week due to Rain–Tree Planting Day on the Refuge 10/22/16

We need volunteers to help plant 2500 white pine seedlings. We meet at HQ at 8:00 am to car pool to the site on the Blacktail Mountain Loop Rd. (the road is not recommended for passenger vehicles). Lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided along with shelter, if needed. An outhouse will also be provided. Winter Bird Count

Please join us for the Annual Winter Bird Count at the Refuge on January 12th. We will be meeting at the cold hour of 8:00 am at the Refuge Headquarters. When everyone has arrived we will divide into teams to cover as many areas as possible. A warm soup lunch is provided every year by the Refuge staff after the count.
