Summer Evening Hike

May 27, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

You are invited to hike with our local refuge expert, Dan Price on Saturday, May 27th. We will meet at 5 :30 pm at the McDowell Lake trailhead. This is also known as the River Camp, right on the Little Pend Oreille River. The hike will take us up through Sampson orchard and then down to Christianson meadow and Bear Creek Rd, where we will shuttle back to the trailhead. Tree Planting Day on the Refuge 10/21/17

October 21, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

We need volunteers to help plant 2500 white pine seedlings. We meet at HQ at 8:30 am to car pool to the site on the Blacktail Mountain Loop Rd. (the road is not recommended for passenger vehicles). Please bring your lunch. Snacks and drinks will be provided.  For out of area volunteers, campsites have been reserved and there is no charge. Winter Bird Count–moved to Saturday this year!

Please join us for the Annual Winter Bird Count at the Refuge on January 6th. We will be meeting at the cold hour of 8:00 am at the Refuge Headquarters. When everyone has arrived we will divide into teams to cover as many areas as possible. A warm soup lunch is provided every year by the Refuge staff after the count. Saturday January 27th is our Annual Board and Membership Retreat and Fun in the Snow Day! All Friends of the LPONWR and other interested folks are invited! Volunteer Opportunity

To celebrate Earth Day, the Friends are going to join the LPO Refuge staff for a morning of clean up along the refuge roads on Saturday April 21st. Please meet at Headquarters dressed for work at 8 am. It's more fun than its sounds. You never know what you might find. Chili lunch will follow with the staff at Headquarters.
