Want to learn more about Monarch Butterflies and the importance of milkweed while helping out the Monarchs. Come plant Milkweed with us.

Milkweed planting at the Kaniksu unit. April 23rd  9:30 -2:30. People from Colville can meet at 8:30 at the Community College parking lot at the corner of Hawthorne and Elm to car pool and caravan. If you drive, the Kaniksu unit is at the east end of Deer Lake. Go approximately 34 miles south on US 395 until N. Deer Lake Rd.  Follow the road around the lake until you reach the wetlands. Continue until you come to a closed gate. We will meet here. It takes about 15 minutes to get around the lake and to the gate. From Spokane head North on US 395. N. Deer Lake road is a few miles past Loon Lake.

Please bring work boot and gloves, a lunch, sunscreen, bug repellent appropriate clothing (weather can change fast this time of year). Water and an outhouse will be provided. The Friends will also provide some snacks and drinks. All work tools will be provided.
